Connect your WordPress site to CitePulse to monitor and optimize how AI search engines cite your brand.

== Description ==

CitePulse tracks how AI-powered search engines like ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, and Claude reference your brand. This plugin connects your WordPress site to CitePulse so you can:

* **Sync your content inventory** – Automatically send your published posts and pages to CitePulse for analysis.
* **Receive AI-optimized drafts** – CitePulse's Content Lab delivers optimized content directly into your WordPress editor as safe drafts.
* **Track optimization status** – See which pages have pending recommendations and which have been updated.
* **Stay draft-safe** – The plugin never publishes content automatically. All changes arrive as drafts for your review.

= How It Works =

1. Install and activate the plugin.
2. Get a connection code from your CitePulse dashboard at [citepulse.io](https://www.citepulse.io).
3. Paste the code in the plugin settings page to connect.
4. Your content inventory syncs automatically.
5. When CitePulse generates optimized content, it appears as a draft in your WordPress editor.

= What Is CitePulse? =

CitePulse is the first platform purpose-built for Generative Engine Optimization (GEO). It monitors your brand's visibility across AI search engines and provides actionable recommendations to improve how AI models reference your content.

= Third-Party Service =

This plugin connects to the CitePulse API (`api.citepulse.io`) to:

* Exchange connection codes for site tokens
* Send heartbeat and health checks
* Sync your content inventory (post titles, URLs, excerpts, and checksums)
* Receive optimization jobs (draft content updates)
* Report job completion status

No data is sent until you explicitly connect the plugin using a connection code from your CitePulse account.

== Frequently Asked Questions ==

= Do I need a CitePulse account? =

Yes. You need an active CitePulse account to get a connection code. Sign up at [citepulse.io](https://www.citepulse.io).

= Will this plugin publish content automatically? =

No. All content from CitePulse is created as WordPress drafts. You must review and publish manually.

= What data is sent to CitePulse? =

The plugin sends your published post and page titles, URLs, excerpts, modification dates, and content checksums. It does not send full post content, passwords, or user data.

= Can I disconnect at any time? =

Yes. Use the Disconnect button on the CitePulse settings page. All stored credentials are removed immediately.

= Does this affect my site's performance? =

No. The plugin uses WordPress cron for background tasks (heartbeat every 6 hours, inventory sync daily, job polling every 5 minutes). These run asynchronously and do not affect page load times.
